English below ********** Fliegen zwischen den Schauern, so unberechenbar war der PWC Superfinal in Roldanillo. Ein höchst emotionaler Abschluss wurde uns nicht erspart. Zuerst standen wir unter strömendem Regen am Takeoff und dann folgte ein Briefing von Goran, das die Pilotengemeinschaft aufwühlte und die stationierte Polizei Präsenz zeigen musste. Ausschlaggebend war eine Kompensation für einen Piloten, welcher einen Retterabgang erlitt und für diesen Tag 935 Punkte erhalten sollte. Aufgrund der Umstände hatte Julien Garcia ein Protest eingereicht, um die Story kurz zu machen, es eskalierte vor dem Briefing total, weil die Piloten nicht mit der Entscheidung vom Meet Director einverstanden waren. Nach dieser unpassenden und hitzigen Diskussionsrunde fing es erneut an zu regnen und der Tag wurde gecancelt! Somit stehen die Sieger fest. Aus Schweizer Sicht gratulieren wir Tim Rochas ganz herzlich zum 5. Platz, gefolgt von Christoph Dunkel mit dem 16. Rang, gefolgt von Steph 52, Roger 63, Kevin 97, welche nicht ganz so konstant performten wie auch schon ;) Die Challenges von diesem Ort waren die sehr schnell wechselnden Bedingungen von langsam zu schnellem Flugstil sowie die Beständigkeit, sehr diszipliniert mit dem Pulk zu fliegen, da das Pulk in ca. 90- 95% aller Fälle gewonnen hatte. Zugegeben ist dies eine Schwäche von selbstbestimmten Piloten, wie wir es in der Schweiz gelernt haben. Auch die stetigen Regentage, wo wir am Startplatz standen und der Tag dann doch abgesagt wurde, hat Motivation gekostet. Die Sonnenseite zwischen dem vielen Regen war die tolle Atmosphäre in unserem Team, die atemberaubende und saftig grüne Landschaft und das milde Klima hier in Südamerika, welches Fliegen im T-Shirt zuliess. Abschliessend gab es für mich einmal mehr viel zu lernen, vor allem vieles, das nicht funktioniert hatte. Das passende Sprichwort hierfür: "Erfolg kommt nicht von der Fähigkeit die richtigen Entscheidungen zu treffen. Die richtigen Entscheidungen kommen von Erfahrung. Die Erfahrung kommt von schlechten Entscheidungen" Ich freue mich auf unsere schöne Schweiz - see you soon! ************* Flying between the showers, so unpredictable was the PWC Superfinal in Roldanillo. First, we stood in pouring rain at the takeoff, and then followed a briefing by Goran, which stirred up the pilot community and the stationed police had to show presence. The decisive factor was a compensation for a pilot who had a rescue departure and should receive 935 points for this day. After this inappropriate and heated round of discussion, it started to rain again and the day was canceled. Thus, the winners are determined. From a Swiss perspective, we congratulate Tim Rochas very much on 5th place, followed by Christoph Dunkel with 16th place, followed by Steph 52, Roger 63, Kevin 97, who did not perform quite as consistently as before. The challenges of this place were the very rapidly changing conditions from slow to fast flying style as well as the consistency to fly very disciplined with the pack, as the pack had won in 90% of all cases. Admittedly, this is a weakness of self-determined pilots, as we have learned in Switzerland. Also the constant rainy days, where we stood at the launch site and the day was then canceled, cost motivation. The sunny side between the many rains was the great atmosphere in our team, the breathtaking and lush green landscape and the mild climate, which allowed flying in a T-shirt. In conclusion, there was once again a lot to learn for me, especially a lot that did not work. "Success doesn't come from the ability to make the right decisions. The right decisions come from experience. Experience comes from bad decisions." I am looking forward to our beautiful Switzerland - see you soon!

For the first time, we switched from Los Tanques to Aquapanela Takeoff due to weather conditions. At takeoff, it was raining in the morning and almost until the briefing. A short but exciting task of approximately 75 km was set, heading south to Tuluá and then back north to Obando Airfield. I took off after more than half of the pilots, in light rain. I waited for the Airstart in the foothills, where thermals were moderately active. The Airstart worked out great for me. We moved down the valley via the foothills, where the thermals proved to be strongest. I found a nice, lifty line. After the turnpoint in the south, things became slightly more challenging as we entered the flats, with no clouds to indicate the best route. I stayed with the leading gaggle, navigating our way through the tricky terrain. Eventually, we reached better climbing conditions again, leading into a fast-paced final glide. Roldanillo, Colombia With high hopes for another racing day, pilots and organizers headed up to takeoff early at 8:30 a.m. Despite an unpromising forecast, past experience in Colombia has shown that the skies can turn around unexpectedly. However, today was not one of those days. Light drizzle, fog, and intermittent rain kept everyone waiting, hoping for a break in the weather. As the morning progressed with no signs of improvement, the task committee made the call at 10:50 a.m. to cancel the day. Pilots packed up and made their way back down to Roldanillo, looking ahead to hopefully better conditions for the final days of the competition.

Huiii, nach einer Zwangspause wegen Regen von gestern wollte das Taskkomitee heute die verlorenen Kilometer mit einem 113 km langen Task kompensieren :). Der Tag startete etwas später, da viel Feuchtigkeit im Boden gespeichert war. Die Aufgabe führte uns weit in den Norden, was für viele Neuland war. Im Flachland lagen grosse Abschattungen, und wir blieben an den Bergen, wo wir oft sehr starke Thermik vorfanden. Je weiter wir in den Norden vorstiessen, desto stabiler wurden die Verhältnisse. Der Schluss wurde super dramatisch, da der Leading Pulk zu früh und zu tief zur Querung abbog. Ich entschied mich mit einer kleinen Gruppe, einen Umweg zu fliegen, was uns zurück an die Spitze brachte. Leider ging der Tag früher zu Ende als erhofft. So haben es nur die 17 Piloten ins Ziel geschafft, welche im richtigen Moment die nötige 0,5 - 1 m/s Bärte geduldig ausdreht haben. Die meisten wurden vom Outflow des Gewitters in den Bergen runtergewaschen und standen teilweise in abgelegenen Tälern und Regionen ab. Die Rückreise mit all den verstreuten Piloten erforderte nochmals viel Geduld. Für die Schweizer ist Christoph Dunkel, Tim Rochas und Steph Morgenthaler noch auf gutem Weg, ins vordere Viertel zu fliegen. Für Kevin und mich ist durch den heutigen Streicher nicht mehr viel zu holen. Es bleiben drei Tasks, und wir sind gespannt, was uns bei den verhaltenen Prognosen erwartet. See you Roger

Another day of rain in the Cauca Valley. For once it seems not to clear up today. So the organization cancelled the day.

Another challenging day awaited pilots at the Paragliding World Cup Superfinal, as the morning began with a low cloud base and rain before the briefing at around 10 a.m. While uncertainty loomed over whether a task would be possible, gliders from another takeoff could be seen passing in front of the rain cloud, giving hope that conditions might improve. By the time the rain cleared, organizers rushed to set an 88 km task, once again finishing at the Airport of Obando, before the Pacific wind could shift conditions at takeoff. The scene at takeoff was rather chaotic, with tricky conditions making launches challenging. I managed to get airborne in the first half of the group, though thermals were medium-weak. My airstart wasn’t ideal, missing the last 100 meters. As the weather improved, the valley turned into a sunshine-filled playground, creating conditions that suited my flying style. With a clever line, I managed to climb above most competitors, reaching the first turnpoint among the leading pilots. From there, I was able to hold the lead for much of the race. The final glide proved to be particularly dramatic, as it turned out weaker than many had anticipated. This led to a wave of bomb-outs both before and after the End of Speed Section (ESS). To make goal after ESS, pilots had to climb around 100 meters. Honorin Hamard, who was extremely low, managed an incredible recovery to secure the task win.
