Die Swiss Cup Ticino Monte Lema ist heute zu Ende gegangen – mit zwei hervorragenden Aufgaben über drei Tage am Monte Lema. Bei atemberaubenden, aber anspruchsvollen Bedingungen entlang der Schweizer-Italienischen Grenze wurden die Piloten an ihre Grenzen gebracht. Task 1 — Freitag, 1. Mai | 65 km Der Wettkampf begann mit einer 65,1 km langen Streckenaufgabe, und beeindruckende 37 von 42 Piloten erreichten das Ziel – ein starkes Ergebnis angesichts der turbulenten Bedingungen. Es war nie wirklich einfach: Ein rauer Start wich besserer Luft, doch der Endanflug überraschte viele Piloten. Hoch zu bleiben war entscheidend; wer Höhe verlor, musste sich in einem echten Kampf bis ins Ziel durchbeissen. Steve Cox gewann den Tag mit der schnellsten Zeit von 1h 52m 18s, gefolgt von Stephan Morgenthaler und Markus Wicki. Der Tag hatte auch sein Drama – Joel Fuchs führte das Rennen lange an, bevor ein frontaler Klapper ihn zu einer Notlandung am Hang zwang. Glücklicherweise blieb er unverletzt, startete erneut und flog sicher ins Ziel. Task 2 — Samstag, 2. Mai | 105 km Der zweite Tag brachte eine lange und anspruchsvolle Aufgabe von 104,9 km – die längste des Wettkampfs. Die Piloten starteten ab 11:00 Uhr, mit dem Streckenstarttor um 12:00 Uhr. Die Strecke führte weit nach Norden entlang der Schweizer-Italienischen Grenze, über abgelegenes und spektakuläres Gelände. Die Wolkenbasis lag tiefer als vorhergesagt, was die ohnehin lange Aufgabe noch anspruchsvoller machte und viele Piloten erschöpft ins Ziel kommen liess. 30 von 42 erreichten das Ziel. Stephan Morgenthaler flog ein makelloses Rennen und erzielte mit 1000 Punkten in 3h 28m 34s die Tagesbestleistung. Gaël Frochaux und Steve Cox vervollständigten das Podest. In der Sportklasse erzielte Mattia Vosti ebenfalls eine perfekte Punktzahl – 1000 Punkte in 3h 47m 40s. Gesamtergebnis — Overall Nach zwei Aufgaben sicherte sich Stephan Morgenthaler den Gesamtsieg mit 1940,4 Punkten, knapp vor Steve Cox (1918,4), der die erste Aufgabe gewonnen hatte. Gaël Frochaux vervollständigte das Podest auf dem dritten Platz mit 1799,0 Punkten auf der Niviuk Icepeak X-One. Overall Podest: Stephan Morgenthaler (SUI) — Ozone Enzo 3 — 1940,4 Pkt. With stunning but demanding conditions along the Swiss–Italian border, pilots were pushed to their limits across both race days. Task 1 — Friday 1 May | 65 km The competition opened with a 65.1 km race task, and an impressive 37 out of 42 pilots made it to goal — a strong result given the turbulent conditions. It was never truly easy: a rough start gave way to improving air, but the final glide caught many pilots off guard. Staying high was critical; those who lost altitude were dragged into a real scratch battle at the end. Steve Cox took the day win with the fastest time of 1h 52m 18s, followed by Markus Wicki and Stephan Morgenthaler. The day had its drama too — Joel Fuchs led the race for a long stretch before a frontal collapse forced him into an emergency landing on the slope. Fortunately he was uninjured, relaunched, and flew safely to goal. Task 2 — Saturday 2 May | 105 km Day two brought a long and demanding 104.9 km task, the longest of the competition. Pilots launched from 11:00 with the start gate opening at 12:00. The route pushed far north along the Swiss–Italian border, over remote and spectacular terrain. Cloud base sat lower than forecast, compressing an already ambitious task and leaving many pilots arriving at goal exhausted. 30 of 42 reached the end. Stephan Morgenthaler flew a flawless race, clocking a perfect 1000 points in 3h 28m 34s to take the day win. Gaël Frochaux and Steve Cox rounded out the podium. In the Sports Class, Mattia Vosti also posted a perfect score — 1000 points in 3h 50m 40s. Ein langer und anspruchsvoller 104.9 km Race Task wurde heute am Monte Lema geflogen. Start war ab 11:00 Uhr, die SSS um 12:00 Uhr. Der Task führte weit nach Norden entlang der Schweizer–Italienischen Grenze mit wunderschöner, aber sehr abgelegener Landschaft. Die Bedingungen machten den Task anspruchsvoll: Die Basis war tiefer als prognostiziert, wodurch der ohnehin lange Task noch schwieriger zu fliegen war. Viele Piloten kamen entsprechend müde im Goal an. 30 von 42 Piloten erreichten das Goal. Conditions made the task challenging: cloud base was lower than forecasted, making the already long task even more demanding. Many pilots arrived in goal quite exhausted. 30 out of 42 pilots reached goal. Schnellste Zeit des Tages: Steve Cox in 1h 52min 18s Gefolgt von Markus Wicki und Stephan Morgenthaler Lange Zeit führte Joel Fuchs das Rennen, bis ein Frontalklapper ihn zu einer Notschirmlandung am Hang zwang. Glücklicherweise blieb er unverletzt und konnte nach dem zusammenpacken wieder starten und ins Goal fliegen. Die Bedingungen waren am Anfang recht turbulent und wurden gegen Ende etwas besser, aber nie wirklich einfach. Overall 2nd – was für ein Geschenk! Nach einem schwierigen Task 1, der mir gleich einen Streicher einbrockte, konnte ich mich ab Task 2 konstant unter den Top 10 in der Tageswertung halten. Bis Task 6 lag ich im Overall sogar in Führung, bevor Baptiste Lambert noch ein, zwei entscheidende Moves machte, um die Differenz auszugleichen. Durch den Streicher aus Task 1 blieb die Spannung bis zum allerletzten Lauf hoch – genau so, wie es sein soll. Mein persönliches Training lag auf dem Fokus meiner drei definierten Werte aus dem Workshop im «Fokus Team»: Selbstdisziplin, Geduld und Intuition. Gepaart mit intensivem Mindset-Training, Selbsthypnose und sehr viel bewusster Erholungszeit hatte ich die passende Rezeptur für diesen Wettkampf gefunden. Gerade die Geduld hat sich in Governador Valadares besonders ausgezahlt – die Zyklen waren oft extrem kurz, und wer zu früh agierte, wurde bestraft. Abschliessend bin ich dankbar und überglücklich, dass ich mich an einem solch hochklassierten Wettkampf behaupten und dieses tolle Endresultat erzielen konnte. Der PWC in Governador Valadares war das letzte Rennen der regulären Saison 2025 – und ein perfekter Abschluss vor der Superfinal. After a tough Task 1 that immediately left me with a throwaway result, I managed to stay consistently in the top 10 day rankings from Task 2 onwards. Up until Task 6, I was even leading the overall standings before Baptiste Lambert made one or two decisive moves to close the gap. With the discard from Task 1, the suspense stayed high right until the very last race – exactly how it should be. My personal preparation focused on three core values defined during a workshop with my "Fokus Team": self-discipline, patience, and intuition. Combined with intensive mindset training, self-hypnosis, and plenty of deliberate recovery time, I had found the right recipe for this competition. Patience in particular paid off in Governador Valadares – the cycles were often extremely short, and those who acted too early were punished. Looking back, I am grateful and overjoyed to have held my own at such a high-level competition and achieved this fantastic result. The PWC in Governador Valadares was the final race of the regular 2025 season – a perfect conclusion ahead of the Superfinal.
