Die Prognosen sahen gut aus und deshalb haben wir ein XC Ligafliegen angesagt. Bereits am Vorabend gab es via Zoom eine Wetterbesprechung und eine mögliche Flugroute. Idee war, zuerst nach Westen und dann die super Bedingungen im Flachland zu nutzen, um ein FAI via Bielersee und Schrattenfluh zu machen. Doch als wir um 9:30 am Niesen ankommen, befindet sich die Basis bereits 300m unter dem Startplatz. Deshalb mussten wir auch etwas warten, bis die Wolken einen Start zuliessen. Doch sobald man mal draussen war, stieg es unter der Basis zuverlässig und bis nach Adelboden ging es ohne grössere Probleme. Der Sprung in die Lenk war Dank einer Basis von 2400m kein Problem und spätestens ab dem Flöschhore wurde auch die Thermik richtig gut und zuverlässig. Zusammen mit Dino bin ich dann nach dem Pic Chaussy nach Norden abgebogen. Leider merkte man ab da zunehmend zum Flachland den Nordostwind (der leider duetlich stärker als erwartet war). Bei mir war dann spätestens am Greyezersee Schluss, Dino hat es raus bis nach Düdingen geschafft. Die meisten von uns haben sich (klugerweise) für ein flaches Dreieck entschieden. Doch auch auf der klassischen Route merkte man spätestens ab dem Thunersee den ziemlich starken NE-Wind. Als wir um 11 Uhr oben ankamen, starteten bereits die ersten Piloten. Waren wir also zu spät? Nicht wirklich – es war noch ziemlich stabil und es war ganz offensichtlich schwierig nicht abzusaufen. Dennoch viel das Briefing ziemlich kurz aus und beschränkte sich auf den Flugplan: Zuerst in den Westen, dann zurück in den Osten und irgendwann wenn die Gewitter im Jura losgehen raus ins Flachland. Auch um 12:30 war es noch richtig schwierig, oben zu bleiben und es war wichtig, nicht unter 1200m in die stabile Luft zu kommen. Darüber zog es schon gut und mit leider Bise ging es gut nach Westen. Spätestens am Montoz ging es mit 4-5m/s integriert. Leider zeigten die grossen Wolken bei St. Imier die fortschreitende Labilität auch an. Hier gab es bereits um 12:30 Niederschlag und viel Schatten. Eventuell hätte diese Gewitterzelle aber nördlich umflogen werden können. Da die Thermik mittlerweile super war, ging es auch gegen die 10km/h NE-Wind erstaunlich gut und es konnte sehr schnell geflogen werden. Leider war die TMA Basel aktiv und so war es immer schwierig, die richtige Höhe zum Weiterfliegen zu wählen. Ab dem Weissenstein wurde es an der ersten Jurakette stabil und deshalb sind wir dann an die zweite Kette gewechselt welche perfekt zeichnete. Im Schwarzwald hatte es auch bereits seit Mittag kleinere Gewitter. Leider wurden dann ab Olten die Wolken immer weniger und bei Chrigel Erne und mir war spätestens in Aarau der Ofen aus: keine Wolken und auch keine Thermik mehr und wir mussten umdrehen. Offenbar hat es etwas später auch im Osten labialisiert und Sebi Benz konnte noch etwas weiter fliegen. Obwohl das Flachland überhaupt keine Wolken hatte, wagten wir bei Gösgen den Versuch und sind rausgeflogen. Tia – da war um 15:30 wirklich nur tote Luft. Die tatsächlich fühlbar feucht-warme Luft vom Kühlturm rettete uns und brachte uns wieder hoch. Leider war ab Egerkingen alles im Schatten und wir mussten in Balstal landen. Dino hat das besser gemacht: er war etwas später dran, hat über den Norden ausgeholt und sich dann an der Schwängimatt langsam wieder hochgebastelt und es bis zurück zum Weissenstein geschafft. Fazit: der Jura geht auch im September – und wie! Mit einem etwas besseren Timing (oder mehr Glück) wäre heute deutlich mehr möglich gewesen. Als die meisten von uns gestern morgen auf den Zug sind, hat es noch geregnet. Immerhin hat es dann auf dem Weg nach Solothurn immer mehr aufgemacht. Doch die Basis lag in Oberdorf nur ganz knapp über der Talstation und im Restaurant Weissenstein konnten wir die Sonne sogar über den Wolken geniessen – nicht gerade die Voraussetzungen für einen guten Streckenflugtag. Nach einen kurzen Briefing und Routenbesprechung (ab ins Flachland und nach Interlaken und die Romands wollten in den Westen) sind wir dann wegen dem Nordwind auf die Röti gewandert. Hier hatte es perfekten Aufwind und im Norden lag die Wolkenbasis auch knapp über Grathöhe. Im Süden hingen die Wolken noch immer mehrere hundert Meter unter dem Startplatz. Dass es sehr viel Feuchtigkeit hatte, war nach dem vielen Regen in den letzten Tagen zu erwarten. Womit wir nicht gerechnet hatten, dass auch noch Altocumulus (wohl eher Altostratus) uns die Sonne verdeckte. Parawaiting war angesagt für die gut 30 Pilot*innen von der XC Liga. Um 12:30 wagte sich Local Tim von Burg als erster raus und konnte sich halten. Obwohl der Himmel noch immer fast komplett abgeschattet war, starteten nun immer mehr Piloten. Die Thermik war mehr als schwach, doch der Nordwind drückte die spärliche Thermik aus dem Balsthalertal and die Jurakette. Ab 13:30 kam dann auch langsam die Sonne zum Vorschein. Zusammen mit Tim bin ich bei der Schwängimatt ins Flachland raus. Normalerweise ist der Übergang vom Jura ins Flachland schwierig – nicht so heute! Obwohl es noch immer viel Schatten hatte, konnten wir 5km Vollgas unter einer Wolke östlich von Langental fliegen. Ab 14:30 waren die mittelhohen Wolken endlich weg. Komischerweise hatte ich den Eindruck, dass ab diesem Zeitpunkt die Thermik auch weniger zuverlässig war – jedenfalls hatten wir einige Low Saves.. Richtung Napf/Entlebuch/Hohgant hatte es noch zu viele Wolken, weshalb wir uns für eine Route nordwestlich davon entschieden haben. Spätestens ab Oberlangenegg vor dem Thunersee standen die Wolken wieder perfekt und es konnte wieder stark beschleunigt geflogen werden! Leider zog dann der Därliggrat nicht mehr (keinen Talwind), weshalb wir nicht mehr weiterfliegen konnten und auf der Höhenmatte in Interlaken gelandet sind. Fazit: Letztendlich hat sich der Tag wirklich gut entwickelt und es war spannend zu Fliegen, ein richtig gutes Training für weitere Streckenflüge. Vielen Dank an alle Pilot*innen fürs erscheinen. Der Plan von Chrigel aber war klar: Col du Pillon, Chasseral, Schrattefluh und wieder nach Spiez. Dies, da das BEO halt vermutlich doch viele Wolken/Abschattungen bekommen wird. Für das grosse FAI-Dreieck hat es vermutlich noch zu viel Schnee um über die Pässe zu kommen. Am Startplatz gab es noch viel Schnee, doch es ging erstaunlich gut zum Starten. Thomas Theurillat hat dann das Rennen kurz vor 10 eröffnet, die anderen starteten kurze Zeit später. Die Niesenkette funktionierte, allerdings nicht im Geradeausflug (dafür hatte es vermutlich noch zu viel Schnee). Bis um 12 Uhr war die Welt noch in Ordnung, dann gab es erste grössere Ausbreitungen und Abschattungen (um 13 Uhr Niederschlag im Gantrisch und im Eritz). Der Sprung ins Flachland bei Plaffeien war nicht ganz einfach da wir vermutlich noch etwas früh dran waren (hatte auch noch keine Wolken). Doch ab 14 Uhr zog es zuverlässig mit 3-4m/s und Wolken zeigten uns den Weg. Westlich von Düdingen blieb es blau, deshalb machten wir einen Umweg über Neuenegg und Kerzers. Leider war dann 10km vor dem Bielersee die letzte Thermik, danach war es blau. Deshalb: umkehren und zurück ins Oberland. Auf dem Rückweg haben wir die Jungs (und Mädel - Mirjam Arn) vom Grunigel getroffen (Peschä, Andi und Roger). Leider gab es nun auch im Flachland Überentwicklungen und das Durchmogeln durch den Schatten bei Schwarzenburg gelang nur mit viel Glück (und super Labilität). Ab dem Aaretal hatte es wieder Sonne, allerdings war die Thermik nicht mehr ganz so zuverlässig. Das war wohl der Grund, wieso alle unabhängig voneinander an der Schrattefluh umgedreht haben. Ich fand es einen mega spannenden Tag an dem man die Route immer wieder den neuen Gegebenheiten anpassen musste. Eine etwas andere Route wählte Fabrice: Er folg weiter bis zum Genfersee, hat das Flachland von Lausanne nach Orbe gequert und ist dann im Jura noch fast bis nach Neuchatel geflogen. Gestern hatten wir mal wieder ein XC Ligafliegen. Die Bedingungen sahen super aus für den Jura und das Mittelland. Deshalb haben wir uns am Weissenstein getroffen. Etwa 30 Piloten waren dann pünktlich um 9 Uhr auf dem Weissenstein. Da der Wind aus Nord kam, machten wir eine kurze Wanderung auf die Röti (Nordstartplatz). Die Bedinungen sahen bereits super aus und mit dem Jura-Spezialist Beni Staub haben wir ein Briefing (Fliegen im Jura, Lufträume und Flugplan) gemacht und dann ging es schon bald los. Die Südseite ging am Anfang deutlich besser, doch weil im Norden die Basis höher war, haben die meisten schnell auf die zweite Jurakette gewechselt. Wie aus den Prognosen zu befürchten war, gab es bald einmal Abschattungen und so war es einmal mehr ein Spiel mit Sonne und Schatten. Glücklicherweise stieg es in der Sonne recht zuverlässig. Die Idee war eigentlich klar: Zuerst etwas im Jura nach Westen oder Nordwesten fliegen und dann am Nachmittag raus ins Flachland. Während im Jura der NW-Wind noch relativ schwach war, wurde dieser im Flachland deutlich spürbar. Die guten Piloten haben das natürlich schnell gemerkt und ihre Flugroute angepasst und ihr Ziel vom BEO nach Zürich oder Luzern verschoben. Doch auch mit Rückenwind war es nicht so einfach. Die Wolken waren einmal mehr sehr kurzlebig und neigten zum Ausfransen, das Steigen eher schwach, dafür das Sinken zwischen den Thermiken umso stärker. Definitiv musste man Geduld haben und bis zu Letzt nicht aufgeben, auch wenn man etwas tief gekommen ist. Was das Fliegen angeht: ich bin gestern eine Mischung aus schönen Wolken und Sonne auf dem Boden angeflogen (Allerdings kann ich nicht behaupten, dass ich damit sehr erfolgreich war). Was bleibt? Es war ein sehr lehrreicher Tag! Definitiv standen wir nicht ganz am optimalen Startplatz, da der Wind deutlich mehr von West als von Nord kam. Bei West ist der Maubourget ziemlich gut, kann aber bei zu viel Nord schwierig zum Starten sein. Ich habe auf jeden Fall viel gelernt und freue mich schon auf das nächste XC Ligafliegen mit euch:) Besondere Flüge: Yael Margelisch (207km) von Maubourget bis Zürcher Oberland Michael Sigel (168km) nach Kandersteg Hans Strahm (152km) nach Schwyz Rico Chandra (126km) bis an den Baldeggersee Fabienne Schrader (94km) bis nach Zug *************** Hier, nous avons eu un autre vol de la ligue XC. Comme on pouvait le craindre d'après les prévisions, il y eut bientôt des ombres et ce fut donc à nouveau un jeu de soleil et d'ombre. Heureusement, il s'est levé de manière assez fiable au soleil. L'idée était en fait claire : d'abord faire voler quelque chose dans le Jura à l'ouest ou au nord-ouest, puis l'après-midi dans les plaines. Alors que le vent de nord-ouest était encore relativement faible dans le Jura, il était clairement perceptible dans les basses terres. Les bons pilotes l'ont bien sûr remarqué rapidement et ont ajusté leur itinéraire de vol et déplacé leur destination du BEO à Zurich ou Lucerne. Mais même avec un vent arrière, ce n'était pas si facile. Une fois de plus, les nuages ont été de très courte durée et ont eu tendance à s'effilocher, la montée a été plutôt faible, mais le creux entre les thermiques a été d'autant plus fort. Il fallait absolument être patient et ne pas abandonner jusqu'à la fin, même si l'on était un peu bas. Quant à l'aviation : j'ai fait voler un mélange de beaux nuages et de soleil au sol hier (bien que je ne puisse pas dire que j'ai eu beaucoup de succès avec cela). Que reste-t-il ? Ce fut une journée très instructive ! Il est certain que nous n'étions pas tout à fait au point de décollage optimal, car le vent venait beaucoup plus de l'ouest que du nord. Avec l'ouest, le Maubourget est assez bon, mais peut être difficile à lancer avec trop de nord.
