Today the forecasts were showing quite strong west / south west wind at lower levels and probably some thunderstorms in the mountains, so the task comite made a shorter task going mostly in the flatland.
88km with some side wind legs before going to the goal with a long back wind line.
From the start we saw that it was going to be a tricky day ! It was difficult to climb when we were low and the smoke from a factory was showing a very strong wind in the flat we were supposed to go just after.
Start went well, but going to TP1 the problems started. The gaggle exploded, everyone was trying to found his path to not bomb out after being super low in the wind below the mountain where this TP was
A quite big group managed to climb well over this small mountain in order to go in the direction of the next TP, but facing this strong wind again …
Around 75% of the pilots landed on the way to the TP2, blocked by the wind.
With a small group we managed to cross the flat and get the TP2 in the mountains and luckily we’ve found a good lift that helped us to escape from the lower level where the wind was strong. Over 1800/2000m it was more calm and we managed to go in the direction of TP3.

I was with a small group of 4 pilots in front but arriving at TP3, around 15 more joined us.
We managed to make an huge climb, more than 3000m over the flat that is around 2000m lower. An amazing moment after the first part of the task that was so difficult ..
Then after this everything started to be more fast, more agressive, we made TP4 then direction to the goal with 30km back wind to do.
VZ selection and choosing the good lines were the key words to be as fast as possible in order to be the first to found the last thermal 12km before the goal.
One last climb and we jumped behind the mountain to complete this 3rd and difficult task

Tomorrow looks to be a bit windy again, so we will probably move to fly from an other place
