Siv 2010

As I'm starting to compete and aspiring to fly better and further in different conditions, i thought it was the time to complete the a SIV since I have been planning to do it for quite a while. Finally last Friday I had the chance to do it with Air turquoise in Villeneuve. I joined Alain Zoller and his team while they were testing some new wings. After six flights i had completed all the classic siv maneuvers, including my first full stalls. A lot of anxiety went on thinking about how it would go, but to my surprise I was completely relaxed and in a Zen state of mind for the whole day. All the maneuvers went smoother then I expected, and it helped me learn a lot about my wing, especially knowing what kind of behavior it will present just before an incident. I've learned many things that day that I would like to write down, but ultimately what I've learned is how to react instinctively. It worked as a big confidence booster for flying for now on, and my only regret is that it took me so long before taking a siv course. The day ended in glory after throwing the reserve and diving in the lake, only to be retrieved a few seconds later. Big thumbs up for everyone that made it possible. http://vimeo.com/13598428 Wing + Lake; a small video I edited about it.
