Since I started paragliding, I have become completely obsessed with it! The pure adventure and unmatched scenery make for incredible sensations of freedom. It is the perfect game!

In 2023, I participated in several top H&F competitions (Eigertour, Vercofly, Mt Blanc Air Tour, TrailFly Lenk, ...). The season had a good progression, culminating with a 3rd place at the Vercofly.

In 2024, my main goal is to do a big supported race again: I will apply for the X-Pyr.

I have a good cross country paragliding track record with a 300km flight, several 200km+ flights and 100km+ flights, including in the Alps and the US.

I was USA EN-C cross country league champion in 2018. I have flown in comps with FAI points.

I have successfully participated in international hike and fly competitions (Mont Blanc Air Tour 2023, Dolomiti Super Fly 2022, Eigertour 2022/23, Vercofly 2023, etc) with good rankings.

Difficult to describe this passion. I love to mountaineer, to climb mountains. I think the most elegant way to do it is by hike and fly, obviously followed by ski touring. To waste the energy of the ascent by walking down is something I don't like every since I can fly.

That only covers hike and fly with my mountain wing.

But to hike up a mountain and then cover 100 km+ with a piece of cloth over your head is magic. All the mind work and the strategic decisions we make is what makes it so special to me.

This year the experience was a little different, an injury in may forced me to stay on the ground till october. Therefore the focus shifted slightly and I decided to spend most of the summer on a boat, so I became a freshwater motorboat captain and I finally completed the tandem pilot education.
2022
After gaining skills and experience with SIV trainings and flights, I upgraded to an EN-C glider and cocoon harness.
My first over 200km FAI triangle in Ticino/Switzerland. More over 100km flights and HF competitions like Eigertour and TrailFly Lenk. Ongoing tandem pilot education.

Meine Leidenschaft beim Gleitschirmfliegen, gilt der Kombination des Streckenflugs mit einem Vorangegangenen Hike zu einem Startplatz, der individuell bestmöglich ausgesucht wurde für den aktuellen Tag. Diese beiden Komponenten können beliebig kombiniert werden mit vielen interessanten Zwischenlandungen, Tasks, Abenteuer, Vol Biv. Das Spektrum, was schlussendlich daraus entsteht, ausgerüstet mit einem Gleitschirm, Notschirm, Gurtzeug, anständigen Hiking Schuhen und ein paar Accessoires ist atemberaubend. Ich habe wunderbare Lebenszeit mit dieser Ausstattung geniessen können.
Zudem möchte ich immer weiter kommen und besser werden. Die Sportart ist geradezu ausgelegt dafür. Man kann sich selber, bzw. im Team ständig neue Herausforderungen stellen, welche die mentale, konditionelle Fähigkeit eines Athleten fordern und fördern.

Des weiteren sind die Wettkämpfe Teil dieser Herausforderung um besser zu werden. Die kleine Community der Hike and Fly Gemeinschaft ist mir sehr sympathisch. Gleichgesinnte zu treffen, welche man zum Grossteil bereits kennt, ist immer ein schönes Erlebnis.

Für 2024 möchte ich den Weg fortführen, den ich 2023 eingeschlagen habe. Mehr Wettkämpfe bestreiten und besser werden dabei. Mein Ziel ist es unter die Top 10 Hike and Fly Piloten der Schweiz zu kommen. Die Vorzeichen sind gut - ich habe mich in der Fitness und Ausdauer steigern können und auch meine Flüge werden konsistenter.

Ich finde es faszinierend auf einen Berg zu wandern oder klettern, um danach runter zu fliegen. Bergsteigen und Klettern mache ich seit Kindstagen. Hike and Fly ist für mich eine logische Fortsetzung davon. An XC finde ich spannend, dass man mit heisser Luft und einem Stück Stoff so weit fliegen kann.

Immer etwas dazu lernen und dabei besser werden. Das Risiko korrekt einschätzen und gesund landen.
