The Junior Paragliding World Championships: A Historic Journey Begins in Slovenia
Today is a big day for our juniors and for competitive paragliding. We have the opportunity to participate in the first-ever Junior World Paragliding Championships in history. This event is taking place in Tolmin, Slovenia.
For some junior pilots, this is the third consecutive week of competition, following the Open in Disentis and Verbier. The early end of the event in Verbier, due to bad weather, gave them a day of rest.
We met at 6 a.m. in Martigny and were able to settle into our Airbnb by mid-afternoon. Upon our arrival, a violent storm made unloading our luggage a bit wet. After registration and the official briefing, it was time for a small opening celebration.
Tomorrow is scheduled to be a training day, but it is still uncertain whether we will be able to fly. The weather will remain extremely unstable, but a significant improvement is forecast for Tuesday, the first official day of competition.
Our priority will be to trim the wings of the pilots who haven't done so yet.
